A two day National Seminar on “Bazarwad Ka Hindi Sahitya Par Prabhav” sponsored by Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Delhi, was organized by Department of Hindi, Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana on November 24 & 25, 2017. The seminar proved to be an effective platform for the students, research scholars and members of the teaching fraternity to exchange their prospective, insights and queries about the issue. The inaugural session on November 24, 2017 started with the lighting of the lamp and invocation to the almighty by reciting Namokar Mantra. The chief guest of the day was honourable Dr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, Kendiya Hindi Sansthan, Delhi and the guest of honour for the same was Dr. Rajinder Singh Toki, former President, A.S. College, Khanna. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Sarita Bahl, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, to all the dignitaries, delegates and participants. She said that such seminars enrich our knowledge and provide nourishment to our intellectual hunger. Appreciating the efforts of the staff she said that such activities should continue in future.
In the inaugural session, the keynote address was delivered by Ashok Sabharwal, Panjab University, Chandigarh. In his address, he explicitly covered a varied range of issues such as feminism, privatization, relationship between literature and society and focussed on the need of the analysis of the works of upcoming writers. Dr. Rajinder Singh Toki, the guest of honour of the day, in his address complied with the views of Mr. Sabharwal and dwelt upon the fact that privatization and globalization are depleting our cultural and traditional values. He said that these can be restored by promoting good literature. The chief guest, Dr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, concentrated upon the distortion of Hindi language by the European languages.
The technical session-I started at 11:05 a.m. This session was chaired by Dr. Mukesh Arora, Senator and Head of Hindi Department, SCD Government College, Ludhiana. He discussed in detail the positive impact of commercialization and advertisement on society and the development of Hindi literature. He further added that good literature does not need marketing.
The technical session-II started at 1:30 p.m. This session was chaired by Dr. Sanjeev Dawar, Head of Hindi Department, Radha Krishna Arya College, Nawashehar. He speculated on the challenges in the relationship between commercialization & Hindi literature, moral values and children literature. On the first day of the seminar total 8 research papers were presented.
