CT University hosts 43rd Arm Wrestling Championship 2019

Ludhiana, July 08, 2019: Punjab Arm Wrestling Association along with CT University, Umbera Group and Indian Arm Wrestling Federation organised 43rd National Arm Wrestling Championship 2019 at CT University campus in which around 300 players from 16 states like Haryana, Assam, Karnataka, Punjab and UP etc participated.

The event was inaugurated by CTU Vice Chancellor Dr Harsh Sadawarti; Registrar Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman; Directorate of Sports Dr Pravin Sharma, and chief guest Dr Amarjeet Singh, Chairman, Market Committee, Mullanpur; Rakesh Mittal, President, Punjab Arm Wrestling Association; RK Mehandi from Nawashehar who has been 4 times Mr India and Mr Universe; Amarjit Singh, Punjab, Asian medallist and Debojeet Sharma, Assam, Mr India.

Closing ceremony concluded on a high note with great passion and sportsmanship. Manpreet Singh Ayali, Ex MLA Dakha, was the Chief Guest of the day. During his speech, he motivated the youth to participate in sports and also appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Arm Wrestling Association for organising the championship and awarded Trophies and Medals to the Winners.

Punjab team with 236 points stood first, Assam with 157 points stood second and Uttar Pradesh team with 56 points stood third under men category. Whereas, under women category, Chhattisgarh team with 114 points stood first, Assam team with 68 points stood second and Uttar Pradesh team with 35 points stood third.

Three Players were declared as the Champion of the Championship and were awarded with Motor Bikes. These were Manoj  Devenath from Karnataka, Weight Category 65 KG (Light Weight); Amrit Singh from Punjab, Weight Category 85 KG (Middle Weight)  and Gurkeble Singh from Punjab, Weight Category 65 KG (Heavy Weight).

Dr Harsh Sadwarti, Vice Chancellor congratulated the winners and promoted drug free Punjab in his speech and motivated the youth to opt for sports and mind games.
