Dessert Making Contest Organized at GGNIMT

GGN Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT) , Civil Lines in association with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation(GCMMF) organized “ Amul Sweet Mate-The Dessert Making Contest” for the students of GGNIMT in the Hotel Management Department of the Institute.

The event was organized to mark the celebrations of the ‘National Milk Day’ which is observed on the birth anniversary of Dr.Verghese Kurien, Founder of Amul.

Mr. Abhishek Sharma, Branch Manager, GCMMF, Ludhiana and Mr. Jatinder Khurana, Asst. Manager, GCMMF were the worthy Guests for the day.

The event began with the lamp lighting ceremony. Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT accorded a warm welcome to the guests . He appreciated the efforts of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets the Amul brand of milk and dairy products for having organized this mega event.

Mr. Abhishek Sharma, Branch Manager, GCMMF, Ludhiana, while addressing the gathering said that The National Milk Day (NMD) is observed to mark birth anniversary of Dr.Verghese Kurien, father of the White Revolution in India.  He informed that this year it was 95th birth anniversary of Dr.Verghese Kurien and third edition of observance of the day since it was established in 2014. Talking about the success story of Amul as a brand, he mentioned that Amul is the largest producer of milk and milk products in the world with 2 crore liters of milk collection every day.

Mr. Jatinder Khurana, Asst. Manager, GCMMF said the objective of organizing the event was to make the students aware about the health benefits of Milk. He said that youth today is getting more inclined towards the junk food and there is a dire need to make them aware of the nutritional benefits of healthy products. He highlighted that the health benefits of milk include improved bone strength, smoother skin, and a stronger immune system. He elaborated it further by saying that  milk  aids in the prevention of illnesses such as hypertension, dental decay, dehydration, respiratory problems, obesity, osteoporosis and even some forms of cancer.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT proposed a vote of thanks to the guests and hoped that Amul would continue to have a long association with the Institute in guiding, mentoring and placing the students.

The formal deliberations were followed by a dessert making contest where as many as 30 students participated. The ingredients such as Amul condensed milk, fresh milk, Amul cream, Amul ghee and chocolate sauce were given to the students. The students were given 60 mins to prepare a dessert of their choice using at least 3 of these ingredients along with their own set of ingredients. The dishes were judged on the basis on taste, presentation, food value and innovation. The results of the event were as follows:
