Drishti Dr. R.C. Jain Innovative Public School, Narangwal, Ludhiana was truly “innovative” on Saturday, 19th August, 2017. It was the first school in Ludhiana to introduce the sport of golf to its students.

This was possible because Mrs Gauri Chhabra, the Principal of Drishti, took the initiative to invite a team of golfers, led by the USPGA Golf Professional, John D. Volz from the Imperial Golf Estate, Mullanpur, to give a demonstration on golf to the young kids.

The students and teachers of Drishti were given a brief and interesting insight about the sport by Mr. Volz and his team. Some students and teachers also got to hit a ball to get a feel of the game.

The school program , being started by John Volz at Imperial will encourage any student who is interested from the school to take up the time-honoured sport of golf .

The Imperial Golf Estate, located in Mullanpur, is a premium class real estate development.  There are properties of 280, 350, 500, 1000 and 2000 sq.yds available. Prestigious home styles range from 2 bedroom suites to the Pine Manor, a home that sits on 2000 square yards and includes 8250 sq. Ft. of Built Up Area.

The Imperial golf course was designed by Nicklaus Design and is positioned in the middle of the property surrounded by the homes.

The school golf program is designed especially for students and is scheduled to take place over a period of 3 months of Saturdays. All skills of the sport will be covered in this extensive program and the students will receive certificates of participation as well as those deserving special recognition in any skill. Students from the 4th to 12th grade are invited to attend. At the end of the 3 month period, a golf tournament will be conducted with all the students competing for the winner’s trophy. More trophies will be awarded for different classes, boys and girls.

Imperial will provide all the equipment and trained personnel necessary to impart the skills required to be competent in the game.

Following the 3 month training period a student may opt for more personalised training or continue in the school program. The aim is to garner as many schools as possible  to take advantage of this opportunity and eventually develop an inter-school competition that is sustainable.
