LEGAL LITERACY CAMP ORGANISED BY DLSA AT PAU KISAN MELA

A Legal Literacy Camp is being organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ludhiana at the ongoing Kisan Mela in Punjab Agricultural University, here. This camp is being organised under the chairmanship of DLSA Chairman cum District & Sessions Judge Ludhiana Mr Gurbir Singh and DLSA Secretary cum Chief Judicial Magistrate Dr Gurpreet Kaur. Dr Gurpreet Kaur specially visited the Legal Literacy Camp during the Kisan Mela.

During this camp, the farmers were educated about various legal aid schemes being run by National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi and Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, Mohali. Pamphlets regarding the same were also distributed amongst the farmers in large numbers.

For this particular camp, special duties were assigned of Senior Lawyers Mr Naginder Singh, Mr Manprinder Singh, Miss Rama Bajaj, Miss Amandeep Kaur, Mr Maninder Khara and Mr Pardeep Kapoor, Paralegal volunteers Mr Amarjot Singh, Miss Maninder Kaur, Mr Tejpal Singh and Mr Prince Kumar.

During the camp, Dr Gurpreet Kaur interacted with the farmers and others and educated them about ways through which they can solve their problems with the help of legal aid. More than 1000 farmers were educated about various legal aid schemes and were briefed that free legal aid is provided to people belonging to weaker sections of society by the DLSA.

She informed that people belonging to scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/physically challenged/mentally challenged/farm or factory workers etc or those whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh or women or children can avail free legal aid through the DLSA Ludhiana. She also made the farmers aware of the National Lok Adalat being organised in the district on December 8, 2018.
