Taking forward its initiative to upgrade the physical infrastructure of Government Schools,
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) got the renovation of Government Primary School, BRS
Nagar, Ludhiana did through one its member companies, Avon Cycles Ltd.
The newly renovated School building, consisting of 11 Classrooms, Principal Office and
Modern Toilets was formally inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Deputy
Commissioner, Ludhiana, Mr. Gaurav Sehgal, Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council &
Executive Director, PYE Tools, Mr. Baldev Singh, Vice Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council &
Director, Amar Agricultural Implements Works and Mr. Neeraj Satija, CII City Development Core
Group & Director, Hallmark Pharmaceuticals, besides the staff & students of the School and
prominent Industry members from the city.
Lauding this initiative of CII member companies, Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner,
Ludhiana remarked, ”While our nation is one of the fastest developing economies in the world
and is making rapid progress in various spheres, Education, especially at school level, is one of
the sectors wherein a lot need to be done and Industry certainly can play a meaningful role
through such initiatives in ensuring that children of underprivileged sections are provided quality
education in a conducive environment which will help them become responsible citizens and
contribute to nation building”.
On this occasion, Mr. Onkar Singh Pahwa, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council & Managing Director,
Avon Cycles Ltd shared his experience on how he managed to turn around the depilated School
building & the infrastructure of this School through his firm belief that investment in Education
Infrastructure, especially at school level, is one of the sectors wherein a lot needs to be done.
Making a fervent appeal to Industry leaders present on this occasion, Mr. Gaurav Sehgal,
Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council appealed to the industry to come forward and adopt
more such schools & institutions which need support. He cited that one of the primary reasons
behind the dismal performance of Government Schools is the lack of proper infrastructure and
conducive learning environment which can be taken care by industry through such initiatives.

& educating young children who are going to shape the destiny of our nation.
