National Youth Award conferred on city youth for public voting awareness

In a true-blue example of Youth power, Gaurav deep Singh, a dedicated young man of 21 years, was awarded the National Youth Award by the Union Ministry of sports and youth affairs on January 12.

Gaurav deep,a BA student from SCD Govt college, won the prestigious award for his efforts to create public awareness about the significance of electoral vote. He is a founder of the NGO- Initiators of Change, and has worked with around 200 members to reach out to 35,000 youngsters and inspiring them. He and his team have visited 18 colleges and 15 villages, and spread the message about the power of a citizen in this democracy.

The National Youth Award carried a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, along with a medal and a letter of appreciation. He was conferred this honour by union minister Rajyavardhan Rathore and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida.

Gauravdeep dedicated his campaign success to his parents and sister Harshleen, who worked hard to realise his vision. He claims that the mission is still on-going, and the next goal is to achieve maximum voter participation among the youth in the upcoming MC elections.
