RTI awareness seminar held at PU Regional Centre by MGSIPA

LUDHIANA, April 16 (000): Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) Punjab, Regional Centre Patiala organized one-day RTI Act, 2005 awareness seminar at Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana here on Monday
 
The programme which has been sponsored by National Federation of Information Commissions in India (NFICI) aims to generate awareness about RTI Act, 2005 among the masses and make the government administrative machinery more transparent and accountable to the problems and grievances of people. 
 
Over 75 law students pursuing LLB and LLM participants in this day-long seminar.   
 
Senior members of the law faculty of Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana including Dr. (Prof.) Shiv Kumar Dogra, Coordinator for Law, Dr. Vaishali Thakur and Dr. Arti Puri, Professor and Sh. Yashpaul Manvi, Assistant Director (Retd.), Pb. School Education Dept. highlighted the various features of RTI Act 2005 and its significance in public life. They also interacted with the students after each session and replied to their queries in an academic way by referring various provisions and rules in the RTI Act, 2005.
 
Earlier initiating the discussion Jarnail Singh, Course Director (RTI) MGSIPA and Regional Project Director, MGSIPA Regional Centre Patiala said that this pro-people act has contributed in a big way in empowering the common man and giving relief to the people for finding solutions to their problems. 
 
He said that MGSIPA has earlier organized over 80 programmes including seminars, workshops, plays and awareness camps under RTI Act, 2005 sponsored by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India.
