SECOND GK CHATRATH MEMORIAL LEGAL AND CULTURAL FEST ‘ASTRAEA 2018’ STARTS

LUDHIANA, March 20 (CNI): The 2nd GK Chatrath Memorial Legal and Cultural Fest ‘ASTRAEA 2018’ was started on Tuesday at University Institute Of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC), Ludhiana. Named after the greek goddess of justice, the two-day event marks and celebrates the spirit of law and order. Students from 15 colleges and institutions from all over the state participated in the event.
 
The first day of the event marked the presence of Mr. Ashwani Kapoor,DCP Ludhiana as the chief guest who along with Prof. Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Director, PURC Ludhiana, Dr. Aman Amrit Cheema and Dr.Arti Puri symbolically inaugurated the two-day fest ‘ASTRAEA 2018’. 
 
Dr. Puri formally welcomed the gathering by remembering GK Chathrath, who apart from being a former Advocate General,ex-MLA of Punjab and a senator from PU, Chandigarh was a noted legal academician. Dr. Aman Amrit Cheema further spoke about the role and significance of the curative event which aims to bring students from different backgrounds under one roof to achieve a common goal.
 
The director of PURC Prof. Harmeet Singh Sandhu welcomed him and other chief guests. He addressed the gathering with his gratitude to the Chief Guest and gave a brief report on Astraea. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the Guests of Honor and Faculty of PURC, Ludhiana.
The first day of the fest is designed for legal events such as Client Counselling, The great Bear Act, Legal capsule. It also incorporates cultural events to keep things light and fun. The major attraction for the first day was the Talent hunt and Client Counselling.
 
The events of the day began with Client Counselling, which aimed to encourage students to develop interviewing abilities and analytical skills in the lawyer-client relationship in the law office and corporate structure. 
 
Next competition was The Great Bear Act, which aimed at fostering the skill of Bare Act reading and citing the required law within competitive time.
The Talent show, also called Crowd Attraction, enthralled the audience with some true power packed performances including stunning dances. Singers battled to infuse the atmosphere with harmonious compositions and captivated the audience with sheer magic of music. The photography event saw students capturing the most beautiful moments of the day and celebration in their camera lens.
 
Among legal events, Celebrity Advocacy was a fascinating watch where counsels were given a chance to defend the case of their favourite celebrities and bring on an unmatched level of Advocacy skills in the courtroom.
