Ludhiana, December 24, 2019: CT University (CTU) awarded active social workers with ‘Social Work Volunteer Appreciation’ who are benefitting the society by contributing for social upliftment. CTU extended their gratitude and has joined hands with many to give inputs in social work by CTU students and faculty.
Among the awardees were Retired Colonel, NGOs, Senior Lawyers, Panchayat Members, Sarpanches, and many more. Amongst them, Retired Colonel Mukhtiyar Singh, a social worker from village Sohian, said, “I am a part of Upkar Foundation Society which is working across 168 villages of Barnala, with core motive “Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao”. We motive newlyweds to not go for gender check and abort baby girl. Also, we work for tree plantation and maintaining healthy villages.”
All the social workers are active in planting trees, saving and educating girl child, celebrating Lohri of girls, development of villages, providing monetary assistance for health and education.
Charanjit Singh Channi, Chancellor CTU said, “I am glad that there are certain people who think about society before themselves. Society needs such agents of change. CTU officials and students along with all the social workers will come up with certain projects and help society as whole. A small start can have big results.”
