FICO opposed any increase in the upcoming power tariff and demanded a 50% discount on the night tariff from Chairman PSERC

Today, S. Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO (Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization), and S. Gurmukh Singh Rupal Head FICO Sewing Machine Division; participated in the Public Hearing organized by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission, on Tariff Determination, where FICO submitted a written Memorandum to the Sh. Viswajeet Khanna Chairman PSERC, and demanded:
1.  Night Tariff: –
The Night Tariff should be introduced @ Rs.2.50/- per Unit (i.e. 50% on the Base Tariff) to the industry, as Punjab is a surplus state in terms of Power & due to winters, there is not any high demand for electricity at night time, so the benefit of surplus power should be provided to the industry with the marginally lower rate of power at night as power is a raw material to the industry, It is notable that the huge amount of power is being wasted due to non-consumption at the night time as electricity cannot be stored, it can only be utilized so the industry should be facilitated.
2. Electricity @ Rs. 5/- per unit Net:
The Government must ensure High-Quality uninterrupted Power Supply and must make sure that the electricity will be provided @ Rs. 5 Net i.e. inclusive of all Taxes and Charges for the industry.
3. Reversal of 100% Increase in Service/ Administration Charges:
Recently, PSERC has revised the Service/  Administration Charges by 100%, whether it is Meter Rent, Meter Change Service, CT-PT Charges, or Administration Charges, PSERC has revised and doubled them all. This is to bring to your kind notice that these charges are always in continuity, so these can not be increased by more than 2%. and a 100 % increase is totally unjustified and unviable for the industry, PSERC should immediately reverse the increase.
4. Losses need to be Reduced:
The losses incurred by the department are increasing day by day, and there is a need to check these losses and reduce them. it is suggested that there are meters installed on every transformer, there is a need to micro-analyze all the leakages and losses and control them on a war footing. Otherwise, the department will pass the burden of these losses to the end consumers only.
