Fifth CICU Corporate T20 Cricket Tournament 2018 took a start with great excitement. The tournament matches will be played every Sunday, which is spread over period of 8+ weeks at Modern Cricket Stadium Village Duley, Adjacent to Phalahi Sahib Gurdwara on Dehlon Canal Bank on Ludhiana – Dehlon Road, Ludhiana. Eight Teams of different companies have registered to play this Tournament. These Teams will be divided into two Groups and 3 League matches will be played by each team, followed by semi-finals and final matches of the Tournament.
The Chief Guest of the inaugural Function was Sh. Umesh Munjal M.D. Highway Industries Ltd. In his inaugural speech he said that this tournament will motivate the players for improving their skills like team-work, how to create a win-win situation by accepting challenges and overcome these situations as well as keep themselves away from social evils. The leading industrialists and CICU Management like Sh.Upkar Singh Ahuja President, Sh. Pankaj Sharma General Secretary, Sh. Angad Ahuja Joint Secretary, Sh. Rajat Gupta Joint Secretary and Sh. N K Gupta Director and Tournament Coordinator were also present to motivate the teams with many staff members and workers of participating companies to enjoy the Live Cricket.
Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja President CICU welcomed the Chief Guest, Other dignitaries, Participating Team and Cricket Lovers how have come in large numbers to enjoy the live cricket. He said that Ludhiana is full of cricket fans and a lot of enthusiasm is seen among youngsters for this tournament. Watching your sport live at the cricket ground is a fun filled and awesome experience. Sports are integral part of corporate team building and motivation. CICU endeavour is to build up a team spirit and develop expertise so as to help, support and grow corporate business to achieve new heights by shaping the industries of tomorrow.
In the morning session, first match was played between Teams of Aarti International Ltd. & Citizen Press Components. The Match was won by Citizen Press Component by achieving the target of 115 runs in 15.2 overs by 6 wickets. Mr. Rohit of Citizen Press Component was declared the Man of the Match.
In the evening session, second match was played between Teams of Highways Industries Ltd. & Kundan Lal & Sons. The Match was won by Highways Industries Ltd. by achieving the target of 51 runs in 5.1 overs by 8 wickets in hand. Mr. Jatinder of Highway Industries Ltd. was declared the Man of the Match.
