“Hate the crime not the criminal” – CII Ludhiana

We burn the bridges and then we ask why they don’t change ……In continuation to its initiative Hope 2021, CII Ludhiana Zone witha team of industrial delegates visited the Ludhiana prison ( women cell) on Friday afternoon this week. After the interaction  between team CII and the administration, the CSR Panel, CII Ludhiana came forward to support and strengthen the department of women prison in managing the inmates and their basic requirements. The CSR panel Ludhiana under the series HOPE 2021 took the first step by providing the basic needs of food and clothing to the inmates and their children living inside the Jail Premises.
The Chairman, CII Ludhiana Mr Ashpreet Singh Sahni proposed a Nobel cause of rehabilitation of the inmates as a step towards the building of a strong society. After seeing the jail factory and the workmanship of a few inmates , the delegates strongly felt thay there is a dire need of making the inmates skill efficient which will later help them earn a better living as they also deserve to live a normal life in future. This initiative will encourage the industry to utilise the skills of the women inmates thus keeping them busy and providing them employment.
Beside this the CII member organisation Sehaj Solutions, HRBL, Versatile Group, Auto Engineers, Fancy Copy Mfgrs, Bansal Laboratories etc donated many essentials for inmates and gift hampers for their children in prison worth 2lacs approximately on Saturday at the women prison Ludhiana .
The inclusions are :

30 Kids hamper which includes:
1. Clothes & towels
2. Toys
3. Stationary
4. Baby food(cerelac)
5. Biscuits/cakes/juices/fruit
6. Diapers
7. Toiletries like soap and powder
8. Fruits (bananas, mangoes and pears) & Britannia Tea Rusk for 177 women inmates

For Women Inmates:
• B. P. Machine
• Glucometer
• Sanitizers
• Sanitary napkins (500)
• Flour mill
• Plant saplings

Ms Damanjit kaur, DSP Ludhiana women Prison Cell appreciated this initiative of CII Ludhiana Zone as an exemplary effort for the betterment of the society during her retirement ceremony. She further added that such initiatives will encourage the inmates to choose the right way of living in their future life.
Chairman Mr Ashpreet Singh and team CII thanked the administration for their valuable support in motivating women  inmates to earn their respect and dignity through their skills once they are set free by law .
