The Centre for Value Education of Devki Devi Jain Memorial College, Kidwai Nagar , Ludhiana in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad organised a seminar on the topic “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Beti Basao” on March 13, 2018. The President of the managing committee Sh. Nand Kumar Jain graced the occasion as the chief guest. The seminar began with the ceremonial lamp lighting and chanting of Vande matram by the distinguished guests. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur the Chief Judicial Magistrate was the keynote speaker while Principal Dr. Sarita Bahl and Mrs. Aruna Puri – incharge of the Bharat Vikas Parishad, Shaheed Sukhdev shakha were the resource persons. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur while sheding the light on the topic showed the concern why the divorce rate is rising and marriage rate is declining.She further said that all the matrimonial issues,their solution and responsibility is neither entirely on woman, nor on girl. The entire value system needs reviving. Mrs Aruna Puri enumerated various reasons of broken marriages and exhorted the girls to have successful married life by sticking to the golden values like patience and shedding the vices like anger and ego. Dr. Sarita Bahl while speaking on the topic inspired the students to evolve themselves into morally higher character by which they can bring positive change, harmony in their personal and professional life. On this occsion, the Secretary of the Managing Committee Sh. Rajiv Jain and the Coordinator of Centre for Value Education Dr. Ashu Beri and Dr. Robina were also present.
